The Quarterback

Yes, that's the title of the third episode of Glee Season 5 in memory of the late Glee club member, Finn Hudson who's in reality is Cory Monteith who died because of an accidental overdose of alcohol and heroin last July 13.

And if you're asking what's the hell why I am wasting my time typing this blog, simply for me he's worth remembering. Yes, he's only a character in the television, but for four years of consistently watching the U.S. hit TV series, I learned a lot from his character, although he's not the same in reality (because Finn is not using drugs and drinks alcohol), still he portrayed a beautiful character.

I'd never cried for a tv series for a long time. I can't even remember when was the last time. But when I heard the New Directions (thankful that they have a small part for this tribute or even they are back up vocals only), started to sing "Seasons of Love" and joined by the old New Directions who went home just to attend the memorial for Cory, my tears started to fell from my eyes and I can't stop it. All of them were wearing black as a sign of grief and for 20 seconds, a picture of Finn was flashed on the screen.

The show did not mentioned how Finn's died, but what's important is we cared how he lived. Each member of the old New Direction sang a song for them to remember Cory. Mercedes' sang the song that Finn sang in Season 1 for the baby that he thought he owns, while Sam and Artie's chose "Fire and Rain" to remember the late actor. His bestfriend, Puck, played the guitar and sang "No Surrender" while looking at the chair where Finn always seating during choir rehearsal, and Santana sang "If I Die Young", and the most heartbreaking when Rachel Berry sang her rendition of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love." I can feel her pain of losing someone really important. She's not only as Rachel, but as Lea Michele.

The grieving process is hard. I admire the casts and crew for doing this tribute episode for all we know that's its very hard to do, but look at the product, its one of the beautiful episodes Glee had created for over 5 seasons. Actually its my favorite episodes next to the Pilot (this episode bring me here, to watch glee once a week), and also the saddest one. Knowing that they are not acting for the sake of the show, but what we saw are real emotions, tears, and pain.

It doesn't care if its Finn or Cory, one thing is for sure, he will be miss in the show and in real life. I might not have a chance to see him personally, but I am thankful to Fox for he was discovered and portrayed a role that touch my heart. Rest in peace Cory. Stay Strong Lea. Good job Glee!
